Local youth unemployment is being specifically targeted in 2014 by training provider, ITEC North East in partnership with J and K Training to deliver the government’s new Traineeship programme.
Young people aged 16 – 24, no longer in full time education, want to work but regularly find their lack of work experience proves to be a major drawback. Traineeships give the opportunity to access extra help, develop new skills and gain the workplace experience required for employment, including apprenticeships.  Traineeships provide an opportunity to undertake a substantial work placement and work skills training, alongside support to improve English and Maths.
Based at ITEC’s Newton Aycliffe training centre, Louise Clark is bringing a wealth of experience to her new role, co-ordinating contact with young people whilst crucially raising awareness with local employers whose support is vital.  Working closely with every trainee, Louise will offer practical information on how to gain experience in their chosen area of work, build and develop their confidence and motivation.  Louise is looking forward to making contact with local young people and a range of employers to ensure the success of this exciting new initiative.
