“Being in a wheelchair performing is pretty awesome because it looks so different to what people are used to.” – Alex James

Introducing Newton Aycliffe’s new indie rock sensation Alex James.

Alex James’ debut single release ‘Direction’ is influenced by the likes of Foo fighters, Royal Blood and Sam Fender. ‘Direction’ has a classic indie rock sound with a catchy hook line “Tell me that you want me, tell me that you need me.”

‘Direction’ was written about conquering life’s difficulties. Diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy at the age of four, Alex James has long questioned which direction his life was headed, but his undoubted talent and self-belief prove an inspiring combination. Through his work Alex James aims to continue the long rock tradition of challenging pre-conceptions through live performance.

“The card you are dealt in life shouldn’t mean that you can’t be a part of the music industry. There just aren’t enough wheelchair artists wanting to perform.” – Alex James.
