Councillors from Middridge and Newton Aycliffe went to Middridge, for a photo shoot to celebrate the successful completion of three projects they had helped fund. The first was a truly exciting project on the Middridge allotments where their input was to pay for the new road (and – largely due to Joan Gray – to get DCC back to do it properly when the initial work proved unsatisfactory).
The best bit of the project, however, is the demolition of an old hut, to turn it into a community garden with raised beds for disabled and elderly people who find it hard to stoop. We inspected the new entrance road (beautiful), saw the progress on the community garden … and had our photo taken!
Kathy Booth, Secretary, thanked everyone who had helped to secure the funding including Adam White from GAMP and John Fyffe, chairman of the allotments. The second project visited was the refurbished War Memorial, and the third the repaired village hall, both of which they had helped to fund. Well done Middridge!
