Honest John is a massive fan of “The Beatles” and in the knowledge he is in the last months of operating his charity at the Cubby he has penned these words to the tune of “Imagine” made famous by John Lennon, one of the famous four.

Imagine there’s no bric-a-brac
And other things too,
Having to pay full prices
When second hand will do.

Imagine lots of people
Living in our town,
Less cash for good causes
Even just a few pounds.

People say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one,
A space is all that’s needed
Big enough for Honest John.

Imagine no possessions,
It’s easy if you try,
No community shop now
Where you could come and buy.

Imagine there is a need
And many reasons why
To have a special place
To give, to help and try
The folk of Newton Aycliffe
Don’t want to say goodbye
