Two young ice hockey players from Aycliffe will take to the ice in Sheffield next month to play for a National Championship. Finn Bradon, aged 10 and Gregor Mills aged 9, play for the Billingham Stars Under 11 team who have been in formidable form this season having has just won the North of England Conference, winning all 16 regular season matches.
The team will now head to Sheffield just two matches away from being crowned National Under 11 Champions and will face competition from teams from Sheffield, Swindon and Chelmsford.
Finn has been playing ice hockey since 2011 whilst Gregor only took up the sport last August. Both players learnt to play ice hockey at Billingham Forum which runs ‘Learn to Play’ each Sunday afternoon from 4pm until 5.30pm. No previous experience is necessary although some basic skating skills is required and full equipment can be provided for a small charge.
