“First my thoughts go out to the victims and their families affected by the horrific terrorist attacks in Manchester. I would also like to thank the emergency services who tended to the injured. Out of respect for those affected campaigning was rightly stopped. Your vote in Sedgefield won’t affect who is in Number 10 on June 9th.

The battle for Number 10 is in other constituencies where Labour did not have MPs going into this election. What it will decide here in Aycliffe, is who will be your MP. As my hand written letter to the voters of Sedgefield constituency made clear, I am no supporter of Theresa May and I am no supporter of Jeremy Corbyn. The only people I support are you, the people of Newton Aycliffe and the people of Sedgefield constituency.  Local people deserve a strong local MP, who stands up for them and fights your corner. UKIP have fallen apart, the Lib Dems can’t be trusted and our Tory candidate is a 23-year-old student from Hull who has made it clear she is only here to support the Conservative leader, not you.

I put local people first. I am the only candidate who will stand up for you. I will challenge whoever needs challenging. If this means standing up to May, I do. If this means opposing Corbyn, I do. My views on Jeremy Corbyn are long standing, and have always been public. I am for Labour. I stand up for Labour values. Thousands of my constituents hold Labour values too, and I want them to know I stand with them and I will always be there for them. I am Labour to the core, I always have been and always will be. It is my name on the ballot paper.
