A group of hospital workers have cleaned up with a full suite of awards after all six qualified on their apprenticeships with Bishop Auckland College.

The employees from Woodlands Hospital in Darlington are the first group of apprentices from the college to complete their Cleaning and Support Services Level 2 Apprenticeship.

The modules over a year of study by the six cleaners at the independent private hospital included health and safety, teamwork, effective communication with clients, Maths and English.

Programme Leader Sylvia Gibbons, from Bishop Auckland College, said: “We were delighted to record a 100 per cent success rate for our first group of apprentices taking this qualification and I’d like to congratulate all the staff for their achievement and thank managers at Woodlands Hospital for their support.”

Ruth Moir, Housekeeper at Woodlands Hospital, added: “I would like to thank Bishop Auckland College for all of their help and support during our staff training for the apprenticeship in Cleaning and Support Services. Our staff achievements were high due to their own commitment and that of the college. I would highly recommend the college in helping anyone who wants to further their qualifications.”
