Auckland Hospital Radio, celebrating 35 years of broadcasting this week, is allowing people to visit the studio on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October between 10am-5pm. Volunteers will be presenting live shows, giving local businesses and members of the public the chance to see how the charity operates, support needed and current volunteering opportunities.
The station, which broadcast 24 hours a day to Bishop Auckland and Richardson Hospital in Barnard Castle is a popular choice for patients, staff and visitors and is entirely run by volunteers.
The station runs a sponsorship scheme for local businesses to contribute to funding. For £52 a year a business can sponsor a programme, boosting their profile, whilst helping maintain the station funds.
The station is based on the lower ground floor at Bishop Auckland Hospital and no pre-booking is necessary to visit during the Open Weekend. For further information, contact the studio on 01388 455453 or email chris.nisbet@ahr.org.uk
