Horndale Residents Association hold their a.g.m. on 2nd October at 6.30pm Refreshments at 6.15pm at Evangelical Church, Lady-bower.
The year since we first formed our Association has passed so quickly. As most people are aware we set up the Association. primarily to build a M.U.G.A (Multi Use Games Area) for our teenagers. To date Great Aycliffe Town Council have donated the land and committed to insure and maintain the facility for its lifetime, which was a huge factor in securing further funding.
We have secured £29,650 towards the total cost of the £40,000 to build this important project. We have consulted with local school pupils, businesses, churches etc and police with full backing from all.
However we appreciate that some residents may have reservations and would ask you to come and speak to us and we will listen and try to alleviate any concerns.
The meeting will look back over the last year and discuss the good and bad points and see if any mistakes can be rectified for the coming years. We will need to appoint next year’s committee and look at projects for the coming year.
I personally would like to thank the committee for their hard work, Sylvia Dodsworth and Niki Duffy and other staff at Livin for their work and guidance, also all Councillors, Council Wardens and Police for their help in making our good neighbourhoods even better.
If I missed anyone just give me an ear bashing and on that note I had better thank my wife for putting up with all the papers lying about and also her ability to look interested when I am ranting on.
Looking forward to the next year
Philip Clark
