Horndale Hound and his friend Acorn Squirrel visited the North East Autism Centre at Aycliffe where they joined Autism mascot Panda. The meeting was to see what is available  ahead of Horndale Residents Association’s May meeting when Susan Tron, their Fundraiser is guest speaker.
The Centre has excellent facilities that they want the general public to use or hire, including a swimming pool, rooms, large trampoline, and full size sports hall. They also have plans for the future, with a petting farm, small café, garden allotment with plants etc for sale, play park and wild life walk through the woods. All of these will enhance and improve the lives of the pupils who attend the school and be available to the general public.
When the plans come together they will be a great asset to Newton Aycliffe.  The new school offers education to young and old people with Autism and also run training courses for parents, grandparents and relatives.Anyone who thinks they need help and guidance in caring for someone with Autism should get in touch. They also have parent toddler groups.
Please come along to next week’s meeting to listen to Susan and see if you can use any of their facilities or offer help in their plans for the exciting future. Four local ladies are raising funds for a disabled ball pool and are taking part in an Iron Man event this year at Nottingham. They are looking for sponsorship, further details later.
Representatives from Livin, Police and Councillors will be attending the meeting which starts at 6pm – Evangelical Church, Ladybower with refreshments at 5.45
