Honest John has been short-listed for the annual Pride of Britain Awards and as the town’s community newspaper we send our congratulations and among many others say: “It’s about time”!
The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards are held every year and were first launched in 1999. One of the award categories is the ITV Fundraiser of the Year. Nominees are inspirational people who have made a difference to the lives of others through tireless and selfless fundraising.
In each ITV News region, 4 people are shortlisted from all the nominees, and their stories shown on the main regional news programme at 6.00pm on which John will appear.
The regional winner from each ITV region is then invited to attend the Pride of Britain awards ceremony in London, where the judges decide on the winner of the overall national ITV Fundraiser Award.
The Awards 2017 will be presented by Carol Vorderman on ITV on Tuesday 31st October.
