Newton News is sad to report that Holiways have gone into administration with the possible loss of over 80 jobs. The popular Ford dealership has been run very successfully for many years by John Hardy and his son Matthew.

They won awards over the years as one of the best dealerships in the country. The company expanded over the years building new premises and opening branches in Durham, Bishop Auckland and Hartlepool demonstrating the popularity of the family business.

The collapse has been put down to the reduction in car sales during the curent recession. The receivers stated despite selling some of the assets and reducing prices the company could not be saved.

The Ford dealership, the premises and remaining assets will be sold as the business winds down.
