Peter Smith, Customer Services Manager for Charge Your Car; with a unit at The Holiday Inn has replied to complaints over it being out of use.
“The Charge Point was originally supplied by the (now defunct) Plugged in Places government funding scheme with no obligation to the hotel. They are not, in any way, responsible for its maintenance or repair.
It was reported some months ago by a driver there was a fault on the unit and since then a firm of engineers has visited the site four times to try and correct the problem but have so far been unsuccessful.
Unfortunately this has proved problematic as they are the only UK company licensed to work on this make and model of Charge Point (made by a French company called SGTE who have been less than helpful with fault diagnosis) We are now in a legal dispute with them over these works.
We have now secured assistance with an Irish company who are licensed to work on the units and are now in the process of raising an order for the works totalling around £18,000 to be completed.
I appreciate that drivers have been left frustrated by the unit being out of service and we apologise, but every effort is being taken to attempt to repair the Charge Point”.
