AN HISTORIC Durham city centre building, which can trace its origins to the 1700s, is now available for residential stays.
The former Durham County Club at Old Elvet has undergone a £1.5m refurbishment to transform it into 12 luxury one and two bed apartments, while still retaining many of its original features.
And now the apartments – right in the heart of the city – are available for business guests and long-term visitors to rent through the newly formed Durham Boutique Lettings.
The Grade II listed building, which over the years has seen numerous aristocrats and even HM The Queen entertained there, has been transformed into a modern and stylish residential block but with a distinctly traditional feel.
“52 Old Elvet is something really different in the centre of Durham and a fantastic option for business people who may be in the area for a length of time and want to stay somewhere that’s extremely luxurious but also offers all the home comforts,” said Claire Parry of Durham Boutique Lettings.
“The apartments have all the advantages of a home away from home and are also in a prime location.”
Parking is also available for a limited amount of the apartments, adding to their appeal for business people or guests who are staying in the area for a longer period of time.
The apartments, which are all named after former Prince Bishops and include a top floor penthouse, all have their own fully fitted kitchens, lounges and one or two bedrooms. “We really feel we have something very special to offer which will enhance the appeal of accommodation in Durham,” said Claire.
Bookings are available for stays from seven nights. For further information visit www.durhamboutique.com
