Coronavirus Support

St Michael’s Church Heighington

Advice on dealing with the Coronavirus is changing daily, and it’s likely many people will have to self-isolate in the not too distant future. We are putting measures in place to help all who are in need, so that no one feels they are on their own with no one to turn to.

• If you are self-isolating and need help with food deliveries, collecting prescriptions, etc, or would just like a friendly phone call, do not hesitate to contact us.

• Crucially, if you are able to help out with any of the above, in whatever capacity, please get in touch so that we can produce a list of people we can call on for assistance.

PLEASE NOTE:

Heighington doctors’ surgery is now only seeing patients by appointment. Please ring the main surgery on 01325 316637 at 0800 hrs for a same-day triage telephone appointment. A clinician will then decide if you need to be seen face-to-face.

Mothering Sunday

Mothering Sunday will be different this year with sons and daughters being advised not to take risks by meeting up with their parents. Rev Lissa Scott has come up with a good idea by asking everyone to place a candle in their front window on Mothering Sunday at 7pm so people who are alone or perhaps worried will know that there are people thinking of them.

Parking on Yellow lines in and around the School

Parents are continuing to park on yellow lines. I have sent a letter to every parent whose child attends Heighington School warning them if this dangerous parking continues I will instruct our Enforcement Team to drop by and leave a few parking tickets. It seems that some parents are continuing to park where they know they should not park so let me say for the last time – continue in this way and I will bring in the Enforcement officers.

Litter and Dog Fouling

I am proud of living in Heighington and its surrounds and I know most of you will agree with this sentiment. We are fortunate to live in a beautiful village surrounded by beautiful countryside and kept clean by our Parish Council litter picker and our valiant litter picking volunteers who clean up the highways and byways every month. Why then do I see a litter bin outside of our Spar Shop that is full with litter bags spewing onto the green below when there is another empty bin 20 yards away outside of the village hall and yet another two outside of the two bus shelters. What is it that stops sensible clean living villagers use a bin that is full to capacity when they can walk a little distance to an empty bin – or even take the litter home. Sadly we have another disgusting problem – dogs depositing on our Sports Field. I fail to understand how anyone can let their dogs run wild in a field that is used by small children and young people when most people are aware of the health risk associated with dog dirt. Should you be seen with a dog in the Sports Field you will be prosecuted.

And a Happy Note

Spring is around the corner. Daffodils are coming into bloom. My frogs have woken up and are doing what healthy frogs do at this time of year – despite the cold. So life is not full of doom and gloom.

Keep safe and keep well.
