Heighington maintained their 100% league record at home to Billingham Juniors this week winning the first game 6-1. A Hat-Trick from Man of the match Jay Bulch, 2 from Captain Joe Neild and a thunderous Free kick from Thomas Graham put the game to bed before Billingham grabbed a late consolation. The second game was more of the same, with Heighington running out 8-1 Winners.
An incredible double Hat-Trick from Tyler Woodward, one of which was a great run followed by a rocket of a strike which crashed straight in to the top corner, put Heighington in cruise control before Neild and Graham bagged a goal a piece. Heighington face a tricky trip to Leven next week

Heighington U15’s welcomed the top division leaders Richmond Royals, in the quarter final of the Challenge Cup, on what was an extremely windy day. The pitch was soft and muddy which made it very tricky to play on as well. Richmond chose to play with the wind in the first half and they capitalise right way when slack defending caught the home side out and made it 1-0.
Although the wind was influencing the play, which at times was like an assault on the Heighington goal, and the home side had to rely upon some great saves from Timmy Furphy, and shot stopping from the defence in front of him, to keep the score at 1-0. Heighington did have their chances, with Max Errington Coates heading over from close range. In the second half Heighington utilised the wind in the early exchanges, and drew level when Lucas Thompson finished neatly.
At this stage it was becoming an onslaught on the Richmond goal, and it was very much against the run of play when Richmond were awarded a penalty which they converted. Again Heighington came back, and within a minute had levelled after a great run from Sam Thompson, found James Le Poidevin, who drilled it home.
The match was an enthralling battle, and Richmond would take the lead after sloppy defending from the home side. This spurred on the home side, and a 30yard screamer from Todd Steed levelled it mid way through the second half. Due to the heavy pitch both teams were running on empty and it was unfortunate when I speculative cross caught out the home side, who failed to keep the ball out the net.
Richmond added a 5th close to the final whistle, but what a match it was, amongst the best I’ve witnessed from this group of players, and we were also missing key players in Jamie Stapleton and top scorer Adam Scott who’s out for 3 months as a result of a serious injury.
So a big well dome from the coaching team to all of you today, and MOM was a difficult choice, but Broden Forster, probably just edged it, as he never let the left winger get down that flank for the majority of the match…Jim, Mark and Sean Stannard
