Heighington Under 8s won their top of the table clash against Billingham Utd in a great advert for Youth Football on Sunday. Heighington won the game 5-1 with Goals from Joe Neild (2) Tyler Woodward (2) and Jay Bulch scoring direct from a corner. Tom graham, had another fantastic game at the back and Layton Collier in the Heighington goal was awarded Man of the Match with a great display. The second game Heighington won 4-1 with all 4 goals from Man of the Match Theo Callaghan including an outrageous volley smashed in to the top corner after a great delivery from Layton. Harvey Yale was assured at the back alongside Robbie Caygill, whilst Kenzie White had another great game in Midfield. Heighington can wrap up the league by winning 3 of their next 6 games, however if they manage to win all 6 they will have finished the season with a 100% record, which will be a remarkable achievement
Under 15s
Heighington under 15’s welcomed unbeaten Northallerton Juniors, in a Division 3 Top of the table clash. With a lot riding on the game, it was a bad start from the home side when after 2 minutes hesitation at the back meant that Northallerton took an early lead…. This made it a lot tougher to get a foothold in the match, and with the Away side shooting down the slope, the home side spent the majority of the first half defending their goal. After a formation change this became a bit more disciplined, and as the first half drew to a close it was a more even match, and Heighington nearly scored when Jack Emmerson was put in on goal, but the keeper managed to block the shot. It was disappointing again, when after losing the ball cheaply in the middle of the park, Northallerton capitalised and scored just on half time to go 2 up.
Shooting down the hill in the second half, Heighington penned the Northallerton defence in for long periods and it took a mistake to break the deficit when a clearance fell kindly to Liam Wright who put in Jack Emmerson, who reduced the deficit to 1. At this stage in the game, it was one way traffic, and Northallerton were not making any impact in attack. With 15 minutes to go, it was against the run of play, when after failing to clear a cross, the away side scored to grasp the 2 goal lead.
This really to the sting out the match, and with Heighington pressing to get back in the match, they were caught again with 5 to go. The match finished 4-1 to Northallerton, but the scoreline flatted them a bit. So well done, plenty of effort today, against a physical side, but no reward, MOM was Broden Forster who put in a shift today
