Heighington U15’s made the long trip to Redcar Athletic on a blustery Sunday afternoon, needing to get back on track after two successive 5-5 Draws. Shooting with the wind in the first half, it wasn’t long before Heighington capitalised when direct from a corner, Roman Alves guided in a cracking goal.
It was to get better shortly afterwards when Jack Emmerson neatly finished off a move after good work from Sam Thompson. The home side had not even made an attempt on goal, and it was against the run of play when they were gifted a goal, only for Heighington to go up the other end and Jamie Stapleton finished off with a shot from a corner again.
It was one way traffic at this stage and it was no surprise when from a next cross Jack Emmerson headed a fine goal. 4-1 at half time and in the second half shooting against the wind Heighington took the match to Redcar and battered the goal, with the keeper making a string of great saves to keep the score down, with Liam Wright making him work hard throughout.
About 15minutes into the second half Heighington extended their lead when Jack Emmerson scored from a corner to grab his hatrick. Shortly afterwards it was 6-1 after a mix up in the Redcar defence led to Liam Wrights shot being deflected in. Captain Jamie Stapleton finished off a good move down the right side before rifling it into the roof of the net to make it seven.
Redcar grabbed a consolation goal when a speculative kick from the goalkeeper caught out the Heighington defence, but all in all a very satisfactory team performance from everyone. MOM was a difficult one as there were lots of fine performances, but Jack Emmerson’s hatrick just edged it for him
