Heighington AFC U7s – RFYL
Heighington 5 – Doxford Vipers 1
We have reached the half way point in the season as we now start to play all the teams over again. We played Doxford the first ever game back in September and beat them 4-2 so we knew it was going to be a tricky game.
It proved to be trickier than first thought because after 20 minutes the scores were level at 1-1, but changes to the team, to up the tempo, saw Heighington take full control of the game and see off a well drilled Doxford team.
Scoreline could have been more at the end but very happy to see the lads deal with the pressure at 1-1 and come through it to maintain an unbeaten throughout the season so far.
Goals: Isaac x3, Archie x1, Reuben x1.
Parents & Managers MOM: Isaac with 5 votes. Worked his socks off yet again for the team and is a constant threat with the ball.

Heighington 1 – 1 Hilda Park
The boys were not at their best today but can be proud of this point as they had to dig deep and fight for it. We were slow out of the traps today and the early morning start caught up with us in the first half as we found ourselves 0-1 down at half time. However, the boys never gave in and a much better second half display saw Lucas find the top corner from distance to level the game up.
With chances few and far between, this ended up being a game of two defences as both teams looked to win the game but couldn’t find the net again. A fair result as both teams gave everything, well done all involved.
MOTM: Isaac and James. Both put in a superb display and are fast becoming a solid partnership. Thanks to Sash Hardware for sponsoring our boys this season, Chris Harper.

Heighington AFC 3 v Ryton and Crawcrook Blues 1
The Mighty Red and Blacks got back to winning ways against third placed Ryton. It was a dominant display from the lads today. Their passing was crisp, they defended strongly and, most of all, played amazingly as a team.
Wallace was awarded a penalty after a brilliant turn in the box and the defender took his legs instead of the ball. Then, after composing himself, he smashed the ball into the roof of the net for his first Heighington goal.
Noah’s goal was a piece of beauty. He got the ball outside the box, took a couple of touches, lifted his head and curled the ball beyond the keeper for his first Heighington goal. Jack’s goal was very similar to Noah’s, he received the ball, turned with it and calmly stuck it into the bottom corner away from the keeper.
Goals: Jack x1, his 12th goal of season, Wallace, pen, x1, Noah x1.
MOTM: Noah, for running the centre midfield and helping himself to an assist and his first goal for the team.
