RFYL U7’s – Matchday 19
Heighington AFC 4 – Durham FC Reds 1
Archie Parker scored two goals, Isaac Turnbull one and Reuben Silva one, to help Heighington thump league rivals Durham in Washington and win the RFYL.
Victory gave Heighington coaches, Raine and Anderson, the first trophy of their managerial career and ensured the Durham FC will miss out on next season’s Premier League.
With about 30 fans from both sides able to make it to Washington, there was a lively atmosphere at the Stadium in Washy.
Hurworth striker Reuben Silva broke the deadlock when he stayed strong then beat the oncoming Durham defenders and scored from an outrageous angle with a powerful near-post finished that zipped past the oncoming GK.
Durham’s GK, could do nothing about Heighington’s second goal either, with Archie Parker stepping up to slot home from the spot.
Nate Anderson & Reuben Silva made for Oliver Savage & Tommy Craddock who took the game to Durham with some really positive runs, off and on the ball, and pressed Durham to make mistakes. Some highlights were chasing the ball down and hard work for the team which was excellent. Parker made it 3-0 into the second half with an excellent well taken goal.
Substitute for Durham FC briefly gave the Reds hope with a powerful first-time strike moments after coming on. Into the roof of the net and nothing Oskar Raine could do about it. Throughout the game GK Oskar Raine & Jackson Whiting made sure they dealt with Durham FC with some cracking saves and handling was superb from both.
But Isaac Turnbull quickly made sure of victory, playing a one-two with Jackson Whiting and firing home Heighington’s fourth goal.
Goals: Archie Parker x2, Isaac Turnbull x1, Reuben Silva x1.
Managers MOM: After looking at the parents MOM, John and I agreed and we have given it to Oskar Raine. Some of his saves and handling were brilliant and kept Durham FC at bay.
Parents MOM: Archie Parker with four votes and Oskar Raine with three. Archie’s control on the ball was excellent today and worked very hard for the team. He was taking players on for fun.

The silverware is coming in strong for our great little club, our U10’s brought the title home without kicking a ball. Rare weekend off for us but we go into our last game next week as champions, super proud of these kids.
