Heighington AFC Under 9 Blacks 3 v Hartlepool FC TJFA 0

Heighington went into the final game of the season knowing 3 points would be enough to clinch promotion and potentially the league title and sure enough Heighington made sure they clinched promotion in epic style as Raine, Malsbury and an OG sinks Hartlepool.

Considering this is the first season Heighington have had, they have put in a fantastic run of form which has earned a return to the second tier after this result.

This was always going to be a tough game having being beaten by Hartlepool earlier on in the season but Heighington were in no mood to let go of the promotion party.

“You’d have to be involved inside the football club to see how desperately the lads deserved this,” said their manager, David Raine.

Heighington made a great start, they pressed the ball really high and didnt give Hartlepool chance to settle on the ball.

Hartlepool must have fancied their chances as the game went on with Heighington players looking dead on their feet. They perhaps should have got back into the game from the penalty spot only to put wide.

A massive well done to the lads and thanks to all the parents and coaches involved in this team. It wouldn’t be possible without you all.

Heighington AFC under 9s vs Hebburn Town Gold Madrid, RFYL.

The mighty Red and Blacks played a close match against Hebburn Town. They won 3-1 to maintain their push for the title. Still sitting in top spot after other results went their way.

Our defence and keeper played excellent all of the game to keep Hebburn at bay. Midfield and attack were probing the entire game and were constantly pushing for more goals.

Goals scored by Dylan x1 and Coleby x2.

MOM went to Olly W for some brilliant saves and one in particular, a one handed save from a vicious shot that was heading straight for the top corner. Well done Heighington AFC.
