Aycliffe Bus Preservation Society’s ex United Bristol type L Bus (1969) caused a few tourist heartbeats to skip when it arrived at Palace Green, Durham on an outing organised by Woodham Village Community Centre to visit the Lindisfarne Gospels.
Photo shows some of the trippers arriving ready to board the bus. The Gospel display was enjoyed by all, and a lecture and question and answer session  afterwards by a young American PHD student  who was studying the book was very informative.
Free time to have lunch, visit the Cathedral or enjoy some retail therapy was followed by a speedy (downhill at times nearly 43 mph) return to Newton Aycliffe.
Everyone had a great trip and our thanks go to Mr Ian Wiggett for providing the transport and some very impressive driving especially manoeuvring around the ambulance on the narrow lane up to the Cathedral.
