On 10th March 2018 Hollie Langsley is “Braving the Shave” in memory of her beloved Gran Lorraine and Auntie Mabel, both of whom lost their brave battle against Gran was Lorraine (Lol) Cole – co-founder of Aycliffe company E.C. Cabinets Ltd, and many will remember her as a barmaid for many years at the Southerne Club and British Legion.

Auntie Mabel (Ellis) was also well-known locally as she was keenly involved with the Methodist Church, Soup Kitchen etc and she made many lovely celebration cakes for friends and family.

Hollie said: “Some people have said I am brave to have all my hair shaved off but that is nothing compared to the bravery of cancer sufferers. THEY are the ones who face real challenges every single day. I’m sure no one can understand how hard it must be until it effects them”.

MacMillan Cancer Support provide invaluable care, help and understanding in people’s most desperate, darkest hours. It takes 5 years to train to be a MacMillan Cancer nurse and although the NHS help fund these nurses, MacMillan rely on fund-raising and donations for 98% of their services.

Judith who owns “HAIR WE GO” has very kindly offered to carry out the shave on March 10th and although nervous Hollie is so grateful to be able to support (even in a small way!) such a worth-while cause as MacMillan.

Hollie added: “I have two collection tins at Subway Newton Park Services where I work and have set my initial target to £300 but any donations, no matter how small would be so gratefully appreciated!”
