Congratulations to Greenfield Community College’s Year 7 and 8 athletes who represented the school at the Athletics event at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre last week.
The competition included a range of track, field and relay events, including 2, 4, 6 & 8 lap races, standing long jump, vertical jump, standing triple jump, speed jump and shot putt. Finishing with the 4 x 2 lap and 4 x 1 lap relays.
Run by Sedgefield School Sports Partnership, it was an excellent event. Special recognition must go to the Greenfield year 8 girls who finished 1st. They will now go on to represent Sedgefield at the County Durham finals in the New Year. Greenfield’s Year 8 girls team consisted of Ellie Gibson, Charlie Nichol-Brown, Sophie Dobinson, Adara Nattrass, Ebony O’Donnell and Molly Clark. This was a remarkable achievement for the girls,who were delighted to finish 1st after training hard since last year’s event. The result shows the hard work and excellent progress by this dedicated group in their first year at the school. Well done girls, we are very proud of you!
The event was also a success for Year 8 boys from Greenfield, who finished in 2nd place and Year 7 girls who finished 3rd. Well done to everyone involved. Good luck to the Year 8 girls in the County finals!
