On Sunday 10th February at NALC. the Durham Wildcats hosted their first Girls inter-academy Yr 8 tournament. Greenfield entered 2 teams, and both teams played extremely well. Greenfield’s ‘A’ team won all games and were delighted, after some outstanding defensive play, to beat Durham Johnston in the final 6 goals to 2. Greenfield’s B team also performed very well and finished in 3rd place overall. To finish 1st against some of the top academies in the County is a fantastic achievement, well done girls.

The staff and pupils at Greenfield school would like to thank the Durham Wild Cats for their expert coaching and support. The Wild Cats coaching at Greenfield School is also open to Primary School students in years 4 5 & 6 – FREE. (N.B. Training is moving from a Friday to a Monday night 3.30 – 5.30).

Greenfield’s Yr 7 & 8 Girls Cricket team travelled to the Louisa Centre Stanley on Valentines day to represent Sedgefield in the County Durham Cricket finals. They played matches against Cardinal Hume (Gateshead), Whitburn (Sunderland), St Bedes (Peterlee). The overall winners were Durham Johnson. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and performed extremely well, and all matches were very close.

They are now looking forward to the next Girls Cricket event in March, run by Sedgefield SSP and Sedgefield Cricket Club for our local schools. Thank you to Darren Brown (County Cricket Coach) for all of his support and coaching.

After the Cricket finals year 7 & 8 Netball players from the school travelled to Bishop Auckland to play a netball match against Bishop Barrington on Thursday, where they hoped to maintain their unbeaten record. Unfortunately the year 8 girls lost their first game this season against a very strong Bishop Barrington team – 12 goals to 11. The standard of play was excellent. The year 7 team maintained their unbeaten record with a 7 – 0 victory.

At the same time Greenfields Yr 10 Boys Basketball team are travelled to Sedgefield to compete in the South West Durham Basketball tournament – to complete a fantastic week of school sport and particularly basketball for the school.

Sedgefield SSP hosted the Yr 7 County qualifying Basketball tournament on Tuesday 11th February at Greenfield School. Greenfield entered 2 teams – therefore sixteen of their Yr 7 students were given the opportunity to represent the school.

Both teams performed extremely well, and for the second time in three days Greenfield basketball teams finished in 1st and 3rd place. This result means the Year 7 boys (plus a number of girls) have qualified to represent Sedgefield in the County Yr 7 Basketball Finals at Maiden Castle on 22nd March. Good luck boys (& girls).
