In a recent inspection by UNICEF Greenfield Community College was awarded the status of Rights Respecting School. The school was assessed against four standards and was found to have exceed expectations in two.
The inspectors were impressed how the whole school community learns about the United Nations Charter on the Rights of the Child and “saw this as a commitment to create a fairer, more caring and emotionally intelligent school”. Another area where the standards were exceeded was in how the children are empowered to become active citizens and learners in a positive and inclusive ethos.
David Priestley, Headteacher said “this is a tribute to our students who were interviewed by the inspectors and able to demonstrate their commitment to being a Rights Respecting School”.
Peter Bergg, Chair of Governors remembered that the school has always had a commitment to speciality and inclusion and this demonstrates our on-going work in this area.
