Throughout June two students from Greenfield Community College, Courtnie Mills and Adam Lamb, have been competing in the area Athletic championships. The pair were successful in their respective events at the first event to qualify into the next round.
The next round was at Monkton Stadium, Jarrow, where Courtnie raced in the 200m representing Durham County Schools Athletics squad. Unfortunately Adam could not take part in the triple jump due to another sporting fixture. Courtnie trained hard this season for the event and it paid off, finishing 2nd in the 200m.
With this success Courtnie qualified for the Inter County Championships held at Gateshead Stadium.  After the competition Courtnie said ‘I felt great, a real success and an amazing achievement to qualify for the inter counties’.
Courtnie went on to compete at the final event, representing Greenfield and Durham at the event involving the whole North East region. She continued her success by coming 3rd in the 200m, making her the third fastest in this event in  the North East! This is a fantastic achievement for Courtnie who was thrilled to be the first Greenfield athlete to qualify for the final in this event.
Greenfield are extremely proud of Courtnie and Adam’s successes in this year’s Athletics events, their achievements are a credit to their hard work and dedication to their events and the support of the staff at Greenfield – well done!
