Greenfield Arts are excited to share a full programme of creative activity with you this summer and continue to offer creative opportunities that inspire new ways of seeing and being. The programme offers exhibitions, projects and activities both within our arts centre facility and online and will reflect and build upon a ‘climate of change’.

Our offer to young people and families includes projects and activities that are free of charge and will appeal to our ‘Creative Explorers’. Led by artist Dawn Belshaw this is a brand-new summer art project that will run over four weeks with crafty workshops to spark curiosity through fun crafty sessions.

There is also a free school holiday activity through our ‘Finders, Seekers’ project both at Newton Aycliffe and Shildon. Artist Paul Theo Murray will be leading the session, be an eco-warrior and make something to take home in these hands-on sessions inspired by nature. During the summer holidays we will be offering one off sessions for young people including painting and drawing, young yoga and fun with photography – exciting opportunities suitable for aged 8+.

Our projects ‘Shout About Shildon’ and ‘Shildon in Motion’ are reaching an exciting finale with celebrations and our Cree groups are enjoying a full programme of activity.

We are welcoming our community into our arts centre facility from Monday 17 May in a safe and creative environment with a full programme that includes three new exhibitions in The Greenfield Gallery with opportunities and creative challenges running alongside.

We are thrilled to reopen our Arts Centre facility to extend and add to our existing vibrant offer. We reopen with a new artwork ‘Made at Home’, by artist Helen Lane, that celebrates community creativity and collaboration. The textile piece reflects the way our community have turned to arts and creativity and collaboration.

The programme and opportunities include an artist talk and taster with Elaine Vizor and a sketching workshop with artist Graham Stead to develop skills and learn more about capturing the world around us. Our well-being and learning continue with our yoga inspired sessions and the chance to broaden your horizons through learning Spanish as a language.
