Greenfield Arts are delighted to be working with partners, Shildon Town Council, to develop a project that helps us celebrate community spirit across Shildon and its history, past, present and future.
Artist Paul Theo Murray has been commissioned to design and create inspiring boxes, gifted to 100 people across Shildon. The contents inspire people to recall memories of people and places that reflect acts of kindness and community spirit throughout their lives and recent times. The contents include inspirational cards, a crafted hand-made journal and prompts to help tease out wonderful stories.
This National Heritage Lottery Funded project has enabled creative boxes of material to make their way to community groups, young people, care homes and individuals around the Shildon area and responses will inform artwork that will be created around Shildon as a result. This work will be a celebration, in May, that acknowledges the resilient and vibrant community spirit there is in Shildon and the celebration will mark the anniversary of VE Day and the spirit shown throughout Shildon’s history.
