The organisers received a tremendous response this week for the upcoming launch of Aycliffe Radio. We currently have seven volunteer presenters and four more volunteers to help run the station and sit on the board.

However, we have not received any female volunteers and feel we need to address that – so we are appealing for any lady presenters or volunteers to help behind the scenes.

Some of the team will be setting up the studio in The Big Club this weekend – which will enable our presenters to see the set-up and get used to the equipment they will be using – thanks to Greenfield College.

One of the confirmed shows to be broadcast will include a weekly sports round up by Darren Lowe for the Newton Aycliffe Youth Football and Lee Weldon will give a run down on the Cricket Club’s activities. This will be broadcast on Sunday evenings.

Other sessions will include a 70’s Session from Peter Rush; 80’s Show by Paul Gittins; R ‘n’ B Show with Jack Hall; “Alternative Aycliffe” from Gary Avery as well as other features. There is still room for more DJ’s to present a show or something different.

Local entertainer Neville Jones (Groovy Street) and Newtonian, record producer/promoter Paul Mooney have also offered help and advice, which is needed and very much welcomed.

If you have an idea for a slot or would like to get involved, please contact Jack or Paul.

Only two weeks to go to the launch date, which is set at 12noon on Friday 1st December. All the presenters and volunteers are very excited and are looking forward to the launch.
