An indoor forest will be created at a charity’s fundraising ball after a garden centre loaned dozens of trees for the event.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service’s Enchanted Forest Ball will look all the more authentic after Alan Brown, of the Sir Plants-Alot nursery near Billingham, stepped forward with his generous donation.
The trees, mainly fruit and decorative species, will form a key part of the theme for the ball, which takes place on Saturday, May 10th at Wynyard Hall.
Mr Brown said: “I just wanted to help out. I’m also donating some hanging baskets to be auctioned off on the night, I’m just happy to do anything that can make them a few extra pounds.”
Darlington florist Flowers by Nattrass is also helping to theme the event by contributing floral displays and decorative touches.
More than 200 tickets have already been sold for the event, which organisers say will be their biggest yet.
Ruth Davey, of GNAAS, said: “This is our most ambitious ball to date, but we would not be able to dream this big if not for the support of Sir Plants-Alot, Flowers by Nattrass and all the other businesses who have contributed.
“The ball has raised tens of thousands of pounds for the charity over the years, money which has been spent saving lives throughout the region, so we are hoping to sell a few more tables before the big night.”
Tickets for the event cost £60 and include a three course meal and entertainment. For more information, call 01325-487263 or email events@greatnorthairambulance.co.uk
