Aycliffe Festival’s closing date for applications is 31st March so now is the time to get your application in.  Funding is still available, please contact the Festival Coordinator for further details on 01325 30070. We have several events already in the Festival and some which are awaiting approval from committees before we can announce their inclusion. The Music Night at the Working Men’s Club will run again this year following its success in 2015 and 2016.  The music will come from headliners Ocean who are a well-known local 4 piece band specialising in Pop and Rock classics. Band members are Richard who plays rhythm guitar and is the main vocalist, Mick is the lead guitarist with Adrian playing bass guitar and Paul on the drums.
Ocean are supported by Micky Rich a local performer.  Ocean and Micky Rich on the same bill has the makings of yet another great night out. Tickets are only £2 each. Information available from Paul Morrison on 0780 1395492 or e-mail paul. morrison1949@googlemail. com. There will be a ‘Party in the Park’ which is a FREE evening show with bands from the Durham Brass Festival in attendance on Friday July 14th in the Town Park. The STEM event is another event which has been with the Festival since 2015.  This year there will be a change of venue to the Leisure Centre in the Town Centre.  The event which will be held on Tuesday 18th July covers many aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

Many displays are interactive and are designed to enthuse and inspire young people to take up work in these fields. For more information contact Mr. D. Spensley 01325 375977. An event not yet announced is a synthetic ice rink which will be sited from Monday 24th – Friday 28th July. A possible location for the rink is the Town Centre.  The rink will hold around 45 skaters at a time, so it is large enough to cope with the expected demand. Skates will be available, as will ‘guides’ for toddlers to help them negotiate the ‘ice’. More events announced in April, after the Festival Working Group’s next meeting.
