Last week was Half term and we had a great week here at Greenfield Arts. We started the week with “Equipped for Life” two days of creative designing by a fantastic group of young people, funded by GAMP AAP.
On Wednesday we were joined by artist and printmaker Theresa Easton for a session making “Book Birds” which are now on display in the Arts Centre foyer. This was a great creative session with participants making their own stamps and decorating the birds, having lots of fun!
On Thursday “Season to Taste” led two full sessions of Family Cooking, making delicious seasonal food for all the family, including our Facebook competition winner Karen Gillham! On Friday Environment Officer for Great Aycliffe Town Council Steve Cooper led a session for families making bird boxes, assisted by volunteer David Sutton-Lloyd. The bird boxes will be appearing around Aycliffe soon – keeping the local wildlife warm in this cold winter!
Each school holiday season we work hard to offer a range of activities for young people and families in the town, most of which are free. We are now putting together plans for the two Easter weeks – all information about these activities is posted on our website www.greenfield-arts.co.uk. Thank you to everyone who made last week such a success!
