The Town Council has, with regret, taken the decision to cancel this year’s annual Fireworks Display, usually held on the sports fields at the Oakleaf Sports Complex on 5th November.
Although the Town Council understands this will be a disappointment to many, the health of the residents of Great Aycliffe is of key importance. With the current, rapid increase in Covid-19 cases and government regulations in force regarding social distancing and limiting the size of gatherings, it would, unfortunately, be impossible to organise this event safely and within the law.
The Town Council hopes that residents will understand and acknowledge the necessity of taking this decision, which is in line with many other organisers of fireworks displays throughout the UK.
