The Mayor of Great Aycliffe, Jed Hillary, hosted a Charity Golf Day at the Oakleaf Golf Complex on Friday, 2nd September 2016. The event was a success with £416.27 raised for the Mayor’s nominated charities:‘The Rifles Care for Casualties’, Aycliffe Village Hall Association  and Newton Aycliffe Youth and Community Centre. The Mayor would like to thank the sponsors and supporters of the day, namely: G. Little Testing Centre, Newton Aycliffe Rotary Club, Don Walker Butchers, E.W. Knapton (Insurance) Ltd., Newton Press, Sabre Rail Services Ltd., Aycliffe Town Centre, The ‘TEE’ Tent Ladies, Aycliffe D.C.C. Councillors, The Village Pharmacy, Tesco Extra, Great Aycliffe Town Council, Julie Welch (OakLeaf Golf Professional). The hospitality tent at the 6th tee was well received and the Mayor would like to thank fellow Councillors Wendy Hillary, Val Raw, Mary Dalton, Sarah Iveson and Malcolm Iveson for helping with the organisation of the refreshments. Presentations and Dinner were held at The Oakleaf Sports Complex Function Room. Winners of the competition this year were ‘The Oaks who were presented with the Annual Golf Trophy donated by Hydro Polymers in 2003.
