On the 6th July Ian Larnach Cancer Care Charities held their annual celebrity golf day at Bishop Auckland Golf Club. The event was yet gain a complete sell out with 22 teams entered, each matched up with regional sporting celebrities. The celebs were mainly ex professional footballers, including Sunderland FA Cup legends Mickey Horswill and Richie Pitt. Others included John Anderson, Newcastle United and John Craggs, Newcastle United and Middlesbrough. Other ex- players supporting the event were from Carlisle, Newcastle, Sunderland, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Darlington and York City. A great turn out and our thanks go out to everyone. Our winning team was ELS Lighting supplies from Tyneside – congratulations to all in their team (photo attached).

Our 5th annual golf day was held on one of the best day possible with the weather great and the golf course in magnificent condition – thanks to Bishop Auckland Golf Club and their greens staff for preparing the course so well. We raised £3000, split between ILCC nominated charity – St Cuthbert’s Hospice, Durham and the Golf Club Captain’s Charity – The Alziemers Society.

Funds raised assisted ILCC to donate £2600 to St Cuthbert’s Hospice (photo of George Courtney MBE and Ian Larnach presenting the cheque to Jade at St Cuthbert’s). This amount covers the full cost of treatment and care for one patient for a full day. St Cuthbert’s do a fantastic job and we are grateful to be able to assist in some small way.

Next year we intend to make the golf day even better and raise a lot more money – all for cancer care charities. Why not try to get involved?
