An afternoon well spent, with nibbles, a drink on arrival and beautifully decked stalls with handmade goods – with all ticket funds for charity.
Organised by kind hearted charity worker, Annette Allan, the fund-raiser was held at the Sweet Rose Ice Cream Parlour, Spennymoor, and support was nothing short of ‘sweet’ with smiles all around.
Annette, said: “The money raised supports and falls under the Ian Larnach Cancer Care Charities. Ian was my brother who died from cancer. He set this charity up when he was first diagnosed and we fund-raised for cancer charities together up to his death in 2019 and the family have continued to do so in his legacy.
Raising a total of £509, Annette is splitting the funds three ways, with one third of the donation going to her workplace, the Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP), to support its leading partnership project, Macmillan Joining the Dots.
Paula Spark, Macmillan Joining the Dots Facilitator for South West Durham, said: “The donation will see Joining the Dots able to offer the people we support opportunities to make memories with their loved ones.
“Joining the Dots is a free service for those in County Durham who are aged 18 and over that have been diagnosed with cancer, so support is really valuable as one in three people can be affected by cancer in their lifetime.”
The event took place on Sunday 24th April, 2022, with tickets at £10 per person, with all funds towards the three causes including Macmillan Joining the Dots, the Great Aycliffe Cancer Care Group and the Fawcett Trust.
Guests got to explore stalls with products and services from Belles Boutique, Temple Spa & Dee, The Flower Child, Ells Beauty and Ann’s Little Melts.
A lucky number board game with a range of prizes donated by the stall holders and supporters was the shining star of the event, with luxury prizes galore.
