Dear Sir,
As an Aycliffe resident born and bred I wish to express my opinion on gardening for disabled pensioners.
My disabled Mother lives in Travellers Green and her gardening has always been done by myself. When the council’s choice of landlords came to take over the duties my Mother and myself were disgusted at the quality of their service.
To be honest, it created more work to rectify their poor work, so I told them not to bother. As the months went on Mam’s neighbours also complained and some also asked them not to bother.
I still take pride in doing my Mothers garden – maybe a little pay back for all she’s done for me. I also take pride helping her neighbours in their gardens, and this is my point.
I’m in total agreement with others at their disgust in the landlord’s refusal to do certain pensioners gardens but I also feel strongly that as residents, neighbours and family members, if more of us took a little time to help others, we wouldn’t be so reliant on the poor gardening service offered.
