Seven local groups ranging from youth organisations, community centres and sports clubs in GAMP area have been supported by a community grant fund. The GAMP Capital Small Grants Fund proved to be a major boost for a number of local groups and in some cases has provided essential funding to help them develop their services. The Capital Small Grants Fund allowed local community groups to apply for grants between £500 and £4,000 after GAMP allocated £20,000 of its Area Budget towards the initiative. Sedgefield Water Polo Club was one of the groups to benefit from funding.  Colin Millington, from Sedgefield Water Polo Club said: ‘The funding we received from GAMP will allow the club to purchase vital training equipment that will assist in the development of all the players and coaches. On behalf of the club, I would like to thank GAMP for their support.’ Other groups who have benefitted from the grants include: St Elizabeth’s Church, Foundation of Light, Woodham Village Community Association, Great Aycliffe Village Hall Association, North East Autism Society, Newton Aycliffe Youth and Community Centre. As a result of its success the Capital Small Grants Fund is no longer taking applications
