Great Aycliffe Town Council will again be offering a range of summer Countryside Events over the school holidays free of charge. The events kick off on Monday 4th August and will run throughout the summer holiday.
Pond Dipping has long been one of the most popular events in Aycliffe but this activity will take place at Byerley Park Local Nature Reserve. The ponds here are a little hidden gem that team with life. During our last visit there was an abundance of dragonfly nymph’s but the star prize went to a huge water scorpion. Come along on Monday 4th August at 1.30pm to see what we can find this time.
On Wednesday 6th August we will be taking some time to discover and learning a little about some of the wonderful flowers and their associated folklore that make the meadow at Humphrey Close in Woodham Burn home. The event will begin at 2pm and participants are invited to meet at the nearby footbridge.
Krafty Kritters will again be gracing Moore Lane Eco Centre on Monday 11th August from 10am. Su and her trusted band of helpers will be on hand to explain all about her amazing animals and you will get a chance to handle the animals if you are brave enough!! Booking will be essential for this event by contacting Great Aycliffe Town Council on 300700.
Further events are planned which you can find out more about by reading future editions of the Newton News or visiting Facebook page Aycliffe Moore Lane Eco Centre.
