Local people will have the chance to find out more about the work of our real-life superheroes, at a family fun day hosted by Ron Hogg, Durham’s Police and Crime Commissioner.
To be held on Saturday 31st October 2015 at Sedgefield Racecourse, the event is FREE, with free parking, attractions and activities.
Ron is encouraging young people and their families, throughout County Durham and Darlington, to attend. He said: “There are hundreds of superheroes in our communities and, quite often, their work goes unnoticed. I want to celebrate them and give people the opportunity to see the vast range of work that they do, every day.
“I am delighted to be hosting this event, which will enable local organisations, large and small, to showcase what they do. Residents will be able to find out more, meet our superheroes, and enjoy a fun day out for families too.”
Emergency services, including the police, fire service, mountain rescue and coastguard are attending, as well as the stars of the Police Interceptors, currently showing on Channel 5. Activities will include meeting the police and fire dogs, the Durham City Safety Bear, displays and fun things for kids, including a fancy dress competition.
Ron said: “As well as the fun element of the event, adults will also have access to displays with community safety advice, and the support services available to them, particularly for victims of crime. There will be lots to do and see, and I really encourage residents to come along and get involved.”
