Each year, in the first week of August, the Rotary Club of Newton Aycliffe sends one or two young people aged 15 –20 to Alnmouth on a week of outward bound and team building activities as part of RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards).
Talented young people are invited by Rotary Clubs in the North East to attend a RYLA course at the camp for 5 days. The free course is a blend of physical activity and leadership training producing a unique experience and learning environment.
The RYLA programme also enables young people to debate issues of professional responsibility, improve leadership and communication skills while having fun and making friends.
RYLA gives young people the opportunity to participate in activities such as rock climbing and rafting, and the chance to be a group leader. They will also be able to debate issues of professional responsibility and human relations with other young people.
RYLA can help you improve leadership and communication skills and learn more about businesses and institutions. RYLA helps you gain skills and in the increasingly competitive job market will help you stand out from the crowd, equipping you with a valuable lifwe experience.
If you are interested in applying to go on this exciting adventure course contact David Hogg: david.hogg@close-thornton.co.uk or ring Newton News on 300212 and speak to Syd Howarth before 7th March.
