‘Roses definitely grow on you’ as members of Shildon and District Flower Club can attest!
The club celebrated its 40th year – its Ruby Anniversary – at Shildon Civic Centre. A delicious lunch was served followed by an afternoon of flower arranging by demonstrator extraordinaire, Mildred Stafford, who reminded members of how flower arranging had changed and developed during the last 40 years.
Founder President, Cynthia Scott, gave a potted history of the club since its inauguration in 1980 and was then joined by President Phyllis Wilkinson, Associate of Honour Elizabeth Lewis and Mildred Stafford as they jointly cut the celebratory cake which had been made by Chairman Pauline Wadge.
The new season starts on Monday, 6th September at 7.30pm at Shildon Civic Hall when Area Demonstrator, Daphne Dawson, visits to present an evening of flower arranging entitled ‘All Shapes and Sizes’.
