Aycliffe “Aspire” members took part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge to help raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. The group set off early on the morning with their guides, they walked for over 12 hours covering around 26 miles taking on the the mountains of Whernside (2,415 ft), Ingleborough (2,372 ft) and Pen-y-ghent (2,277 ft).
Members said the walk was both physically and mentally exhausting and for many the hardest thing they had ever done. To date they have raised over £3,900 and some are looking forward to taking on their next challenge which will be completing the Muddy Mayhem course at Hardwick Park on September 27th this time hoping to raise funds for the Olivia Mae Foundation which is a local charity that helps families where children are critically or seriously ill in hospital.
