Our local Racecourse is preparing to dish up a traditional English raceday, with the return of one of 2013’s most popular fixtures.
Sedgefield Racecourse, in County Durham, is hosting its Fish Fryers Raceday on Sunday, 2 March, serving up the traditional British treat of fish and chips to guests on the day.
Plus, the first 50 guests through the gates on the day will receive FREE fish & chips! Collins Seafoods Ltd are supporting the day by sponsoring the fish, meaning racegoers can enjoy fish & chips for only £3.50 on the day.
The raceday, which gets started at 12.10pm and has seven live races, will be the last weekend meeting at the racecourse this year. The Sunderland V Manchester City Capital One Cup Final will also be shown around the course as well as racing to support the local team.
Jill Williamson, Executive Director of Sedgefield Racecourse, said: “We are gearing up for what we expect to be a very busy day. Last year’s Fish Fryers Raceday was exceptionally popular, and we’re sure this meeting will be no different. Fish and chips are a British institution, and teamed with a great day at the races, it is a real treat for people of all ages. The thing that is most appealing is that children under the age of 18 go free with a paying adult, so it will be a great day out for families. We’re really looking forward to it.”
It is the first of three March meetings at Sedgefield, with the next one being the Cheltenham Festival Raceday on Tuesday, 11 March, which allows racegoers to enjoy seven live races at Sedgefield and live racing from Cheltenham via the big screen. Plus the Betfred Series Final Rockin’ Raceday on Friday, March 21 which will see the Class Two Hurdle Final sponsored by Betfred with the prize money valued at £20,000 for the lucky winner.
Tickets start at £13* with a fish and chip package available at £22* and a Seafood Special Package available in the restaurant for £32*.
