Natasha Grainger was born and attended the Avenue Comprehensive, but moved to Woodham Comprehensive when the school closed. She has been married to Phil for 10 years and they have two girls – Ruby, 9 and Daisy 5). My main hobby is Taekwondo which I am a black belt and enjoy along with my children.
Natasha lost two loved ones to cancer and had one survive, so wanted to raise money for Cancer Research UK as the more money raised then hopefully more and more people will be able to say they survived.
She heard about Ultra White Collar Boxing and thought that it was a great challenge and hopefully something people would want to sponsor me for considering I’ve never actually boxed before.
Ultra White Collar Boxing has raised over £4 million for Cancer Research UK and hold these events all over the for 8 weeks training which is provided by a local gym before climbing into the ring to fight another fundraiser. The fight night will take place at Rainton Meadows Arena on Saturday 2nd July with approximately 40 fights taking place. It is a fabulous night where each contestant gets to pick a fight name and comes out to a crowd of approx 1500 people under spotlight to their own music.
The Unity Gym in Durham are the organisers for Ultra White Collar Boxing Durham and the photo attached is Natasha with Nick Hands the owner and one of the coaches.
Natasha said: “I am hoping by getting the article in Newton News it will encourage people to sponsor me so that I can raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK. Most people have been affected by cancer either directly or indirectly and it is a cause that a lot of people relate to”.
People can sponsor me in two ways: TEXT: NWCB77 followed by the amount £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10 to 70070
