Dear Sir,
I note from last week’s Newton News there were two anonymous letters which called on Vince Crosby to ‘put up or shut up’. Whoever wrote these letters doesn’t know Vince. For one, you won’t shut him up, on the other point, he will not stand again as a Councillor, his time to retire has come, but I put it to whoever wrote those letters, who don’t have the courage to put their name to the letters, therefore, he will take no notice.
Vince was my Councillor back in the day of Sedgefield Borough and fought for the people. He, along with his colleague, Brian Hall, held surgeries in Horndale Club and later in the Navy Club to listen to residents concerns and suggestions every week.
I have yet to see a Councillor, of any party, do the same. He still listens to concerns and suggestions and he was always popular with the people. It is my opinion that Vince has forgotten more than these new up and coming councillors.
If you can’t put your name to a letter, then it is better to say nothing.
Yes, I would like Vince back as my Councillor, but he is now in his 80’s and the time has come for him to stand down, but he will keep campaigning for social justice and fight for and on behalf of the people.
