Newtonian June Ryder, herself a victim of Leukaemia, is asking people to sign the petition to keep North Tees Hospital Haematology Ward open following news it was to close, transferring all patients to either James Cook, Sunderland or Newcastle.
June says North Tees is a fantastic hospital with brilliant staff who saved her life when given only two weeks to live! They also did it again when she had to go back this year and she lived to see the birth of her second grandchild.
June believes the loss of the ward’s doctors and staff would be devastating to the patients who have gained so much from the care received.
“The personal attention lost and the longer journey for treatment to other hospitals will be counter productive” says June. She has joined the 4000 petitioners fighting hard to keep the ward and she urges others to help by signing via the Hartlepool Mail website: www.you.38degrees.org.uk
