Dear Sir,
In response to the anonymous letter last week regarding feeding pigeons could I just ask why and when did the human race become so hard hearted and uncaring?
You see daily on social media, dogs being skinned alive in China, puppies in Romania with paws hacked off, men hunting and enjoying watching animals die in agony.
This really scares me as many psychologists say serial killers begin by torturing animals so how many potential killers walk the earth?
The letter writer says feeding pigeons attract vermin, but I think the opposite applies as pigeons are eating the food which attracts rats.
Pigeons find themselves in town and city centres because they are abused by humans including those who take them miles away expecting them to fly home.
I hope the person who complained never finds themselves lost, cold and hungry and being barred from receiving food! We are raising a nation of heartless people and I have seen young people chasing and kicking pigeon usually why their parents are occupied on a mobile phone.
It would be nicer to see children encouraged to feed the poor birds and remember when our pigeons were our friends carrying messages during the war years.
