St. Mary’s popular priest, Fr. Michael Campion’s last few days at Aycliffe were sad, but joyous as everyone gave him a fond farewell.
There was a special social evening at Shildon Civic Hall where congregations from both towns met to say goodbye. The final Services of Mass were equally well attended to wish Fr. Michael well in his new position at Jesmond.
The Rev. Graham Morgan, Methodist Minister was among the guests at Shildon Civic Hall where he was persuaded to give a “Stand up Comedian” performance. Readers may have seen him on Sky T.V. as part of Liverpool comic John Bishop’s programme where people from all round the country tell jokes.
Also providing entertainment was Shamini, daughter of Shah Sandanarajah who owns Burnhill Way Petrol Station. Shamini wished to say “thank you” on behalf of her father who had been made so welcome by Fr Campion and the people of Newton Aycliffe when he came to Newton Aycliffe.
